As local derbies go, Otley v Huddersfield is going to be one of the tastier. In league confrontations, Otley are ahead 5-3, and together with putting them out of the Yorkshire Cup last season (their only senior defeat that season) it promises to be a great match. The Huddersfield team should include ex-Otley captain Adam Blades at tight-head, and we all know what he has done for Otley over the years.
Now that we are back on home soil, Peter Clegg is hoping that last week’s defeat against Blaydon is behind them. He said: "We scored four tries but we should have scored eight. It was a game that we could have won and should have won, but we didn't, and that is down to not making the right decisions and making some fundamental mistakes.
"But we are playing well in general and we are delighted with our new signing Joe Rowntree. He is kicking his goals and scoring tries and looks a very good player."
Huddersfield’s win at Lockwood Park against Macclesfield last week was their first of the season, and doubtless Gareth Lewis will be hoping that staying in Yorkshire will be fill up his team needs. They have six points to date and sit twelfth in the league. Otley will want to get their second home win under their belt, with the aim of moving one if not two places up the league.
