A thoroughly entertaining and nail biting encounter was served by all of the young talent on display here with the final score line in the balance until the very end.

Semi seasoned campaigners displayed their obvious experience but it was so pleasing to see others developing in leaps and bounds within both squads.

The opening period was competitive and keenly contested with no score resulting until the eleventh minute when Kate Davies showed her pace to outstrip the defence out wide to score. Catrin Williams added the conversion from close range.

Ten minutes later it was the turn of the home based squad to muster a response with a powerful Lia Evans charge bringing them into the danger zone. Nel Hughes continued the forward momentum with Beth Whittle finally collecting to power over. The conversion was also slotted by Whittle to tie the scores.

Within minutes however the visitors had restored their seven point cushion with the same combination responsible for the scoring. Line out ball was spread wide and again Kate Davies showed a turn of speed to outfox the defence to score. Williams once more converted. Môr Ladron prop Kristina Aguilar was having a major influence on proceedings during this second quarter, driving purposefully and an ever present in support. It was her illegally restricted endeavours that led to a quickly taken tap penalty bringing reward for Mali Quaeck as she just managed to squeeze in beyond the try line for the third try of the match.

Meirionnydd however extended their lead once again when a stolen ball was fed quickly to the no nonsense approach Mali Jones who ploughed over and again afforded Catrin Williams the conversion. As half time was approaching Môr Ladron mounted one other attack of note that saw Beth Whittle retain possession amongst the melee and drive forcefully to creep over close to the posts. She duly added the conversion to bring the half to a close with the visitors two points ahead.

The conditions deteriorated during the second period but the level of intensity on the pitch was sustained. Nel Hughes brought off one fine try saving tackle and Elin Jones showed a tenacity and hard edge in midfield. Winger Sian Boun was also fully committed, relishing entering the fray from the off.

However it was Meirionnydd who crossed the try line when quick thinking by flanker Sara Jones resulted in a dummy pass being accepted and a gap appearing that she was able to exploit from a good thirty five meters. On this occasion the conversion missed so the doable seven point margin inspired the home side to front up and mount a stern challenge. This they did with the likes of Ffion Jones and Mali Quaeck gaining valuable meters.

From one ruck close to the try line Harriet Rowlands opted not to pass and found a gap that she duly exposed to give renewed hope although the conversion attempt failed. The pressure was maintained and it appeared that Ffion Jones could well be on her way to sealing victory when she broke free from distance, however a divot meant that she lost her footing inches short and in one of the ensuing charges that followed the ball was spilt and winger Lliwen Jones who suddenly found the ball in her hands embarked on a length of field run to joyous applause from the visiting support. She duly ensured a hard earned victory when grounding by the posts, again offering Catrin Williams a relatively easy conversion to draw a hugely entertaining encounter to a close.
