Following report kindly supplied by Llangefni RFC.

After two narrow defeats at home to Nant pre Xmas, Cefni had hoped for much better in this fixture. It was a hard pill to swallow after the previous Saturday`s handsome home win. It was 26- 7 at the break, and Cefni may well have been in closercontention if their line out hadn`t misfired on crucial throws in the home 22. For Nant Joel Stirling, Steffan Horan and Delwyn Jones twice, crossed for tries and S. Horan added 3 conversions. Cefni were rewarded with a try from flanker Carrog Roberts after a period of intense pressure in the home 22.

From the restart Cefni left wing Rich Jones made a strong 40 metre break and after a ruck penalty was awarded, Cefni won the line out and attacked into midfield before moving the ball left where Rhys Hughes crossed in the corner. Unfortunately the try was disallowed for an alleged forward pass. So Nant retained their 19 point lead at the break.

Cefni started the 2nd half by pressurising Nant in their 22, but white line fever and the speed of the Nant jackals meant Cefni came away empty handed on several occasions. Cefni were forced to make changes in their front row at half time and lost the 1st half solidity at scrum time. Former RGC prop James Davies wrecked a few Cefni scrums in the 3rd quarter of the game. In addition, the wind had got stronger ,allowing Nant to make huge territorial gains with the boot. Cefni defended stoutly through countless phases, but finally buckled when they were outflanked by Gethin Vaughan on the left wing. Horan`s extras made it 33-7 and from there Nant proceeded to exhibit their excellent handling skills and attacking flair, as they added a further 5 tries. These were scoredbyRobin Parry , Cai Jones, Joel Stirling, Ifan Jones and Gethin Roberts. Steffan Horan added 4 conversions for a personal tally of 19 points.

For Nant, Delwyn Jones was hugely influential in midfield: drawing defenders before offloading dexterously. He also scored 2 tries and kicked through for Horan`s try in the ist half. Steff Horan kicked very well off the tee and ran well in open play. For Cefni, Carwyn Milburn can be pleased with his first outing at 9 for a very long time! Max Peters took full advantage of his 1st start of the season with a barnstorming display in the back row. Captain Tom Owen, as well as doing his customary big shift of tackling, also showed up well supporting in the wider channels.

So Nant will fancy their chances against Pwllheli, and Cefni will need to regroup quickly to challenge visitors Ruthun at Cae Smyrna next Saturday.
