The referees have been appointed for next year's Women's 6 Nations championship.

Two referees will make their international test debuts during the Women’s 6 Nations in the northern hemisphere next year.

Spain’s Alhambra Nievas and England’s Sara Cox were appointed after successfully refereeing friendly internationals over the course of 2014 as well as performing assistant referee roles during Women’s Rugby World Cup 2014 in France.

World Rugby High Performance Match Officials Manager Joel Jutge has put a newly structured group in place with Nievas and Cox replacing Marlize Jordaan and Nicky Inwood who left the match officials panel this year.

The full panel for the 6 Nations championship features Jess Beard (NZL), Leah Berard (USA), Sara Cox (ENG), Claire Hodnett (ENG), Alhambra Nievas (ESP), Helen O’Reilly (IRE), Amy Perrett (AUS) and Sherry Trumbull (CAN).

“Next year’s Women’s 6 Nations appointments were based on performances during this year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup and other internationals during 2014,” said Jutge.

“The ladies are subject to the same fully monitored performances as the men’s system and are also boosted with high performance support from our our fitness consultant Matt Blair.

“Our goal now is to work towards preparing the best referees for the next Women's Rugby World Cup in 2017."

Assistant referees for the Women's 6 Nations 2015 will be appointed in due course.
