RGC put in a big 2nd half performance to pick up another impressive victory against Llanharan.

The Gogs ran in 8 tries after half time in front of another entertained Eirias crowd.

The opening 20 minutes was a frustrating one for all involved in RGC, passes were going astray, balls were being knocked on at opportune moments, with at least 3 tries spurned when the chance was on. This gave the visitors a chance to take the lead through the boot of Rhys Morgan.

The backline were making breaks, Tom Blackwell and Harri Evans looking impressive with the ball in hand. Llanharan had a chance to score when winger Harry Davies picked up a loose pass out was held up on the line.

It was the Gogs the claimed the first try when the impressive Afon Bagshaw went over the line and James Lang hit the extras.

Bagshaw made another big break but was tackled short of the line.

The boot of James Lang extended the lead as half time approached with a penalty.

After the half time whistle RGC looked a different side, with 2 early scores from Andy Williams and Tiaan Loots, with another Lang conversion.

Rhys Morgan claimed another penalty for the visitors, but Gogs were making dangerous runs and pushing for the bonus point.

Try number 4 came from Cam Davies and the scrum half then made a big break before offloading to substitute Shaun O’ Rourke who scored with his first touch of the ball. I think it was an RGC record to score after being on the pitch for only 30 seconds.

RGC were breaking the gaineline time and time again, and unlike the first half, the players had the composure to move the ball at the correct moments. Harri Evans was next up with a brace of tries as he outpaced the Llanharan defence.

Afon Bagshaw was putting in a big performance, and his ability to take the ball and run at the defence was of the highest standard today. In a world of statistics and analysis the RGC fullback must have had impressive results in breaks, or in supporters terms “he put a big shift in”.

It was proving a tough end to the game for the visitors and it didn’t get any better when Lewis Barker came on as a replacement. He lit up the Eirias pitch with some good footwork and fellow sub Andy Baston got a try after nice skills from Barker. Lang hit his 5th conversion of the game.

The final score was from Tom Blackwell, the winger has been in good try scoring form over the past few games and he continued that scoring form with one on the final whistle.

It was another big scoring game for RGC with 9 tries to send the crowd home happy.

RGC Coach Phil Davies took delight with the 2nd half especially “I am really pleased with the performance. 1st half we had the intent to play rugby but it we made errors, we lost control in vital situations – our rucking and when we had possession. When we got in at half time we talked about our attack, the break down, control and the speed of the ball when we had possession. We had good handling and we also defended well. To score 48 points in the 2nd half just showed what a strong performances it was.”
