Rhayader RFC entertained old foes Old Tyleryans in Division 3 East D on Saturday.
Having won last time out v Cwmcarn and having run West Mon close, Rhayader were keen to add Old T's to their list of victories.
However Rhayader RFC were left disappointed as indiscipline and poor execution meant they were left with just a losing bonus point.
In a game littered with mistakes and with Rhayader unable to get out of second gear all game, the home side only have themselves to blame.
Old Tyleryans opened the scoring with an unconverted try but before half time Rhayader were in front thanks to a well worked forwards try which saw Steve Greenfield crash over wide out, Haydn O'Reilly converted.
Second half saw Rhayader spawn two great chances, firstly Dan Goodman went racing clean through but was pulled back by the referee as both sets of forwards were brawling and then Alex Clarke went close but was harshly ruled to have not grounded the ball.
This home pressure however was sparse and Old T's were also doing their own pressing. A simple penalty kick saw them move 8-7 clear after an illegal tackle by replacement James Rees which saw him sin binned. Then after Alex Clarke replaced him in the bin for complaining, Old T's made the extra man count by going over for a second unconverted try.
The fact that Old T's goal kicker forgot to bring his kicking boots meant Rhayader were still in the game but the home side were unable to add a further try which left coach Terry John Hutchinson feeling very frustrated.
Next up for Rhayader is the rearranged trip to high fliers Newport Saracens this Saturday, kick off 2:30pm.
