Following report kindly supplied by Menai Bridge RFC.

Rhos enjoyed a good win against visitors Bridge, earning a bonus point in the process.

Bridge started well enough but were unable to convert pressure into points; they crossed the try line twice in the first half but failed to ground the ball. Rhos weathered the storm, defending stoutly and, as the half progressed, they took a grip on the match. The first try was a run in for winger Josh Mathews, as a number of phases created gaps in the Bridge defence and an overlap on the wing. The try was duly converted to give Rhos a 7 to nil lead. Rhos maintained the pressure, capitalising on Bridge mistakes in possession and, in the dying moments of the half, Mike Evans-Jones made a great break to score a try that he converted to give the home side a 14 to nil half time lead.

Bridge improved after the interval and scored two tries in quick succession. The first was scored by flanker Lee McGrath and in a similar fashion number 8 Chris Roberts scored. With one conversion missed Rhos had the advantage at 14 to 12 and then rallied to not looked back. Mike Evans-Jones scored a penalty and a sustained period of forward pressure resulted in a try for Rhos' Mike Meyers. Try as they might, Bridge couldn't scrape back any points and, with only a few minutes to, go Evans-Jones scored the bonus point try for Rhos. His step inside the advancing Bridge defence cleared the way to the line for a try, and he capped an excellent afternoon's work by converting his own try with a superbly taken drop kick.

Rhos will look to press on from this victory, whilst Bridge will have to rally in the week before facing in form Holyhead at Llyn Y Felin next Saturday.
