Rhuthun dominated this Division 1 North game against a lively Bro side who fought right to the end.
In the first few minutes Bro had the chance to go ahead with a penalty goal kick but it missed the mark and after defending against Bro in midfield for a while the Blues went on the attack. After 12 minutes play flanker Tudur Parry put scrum half Cai Edwards through for his first try converted by full back Dyfan Humphreys.
Bro went down to 14 men with a yellow card and after a further 3 minutes wing Josh Wilson got Rhuthun’s second with Humphreys converting and then 5 minutes later Dyfan scored himself and converted.
Back up to full strength Bro were having to defend well against a free flowing Rhuthun attack marshalled by centre Gethin Hughes playing his 300th 1st team game.
10 minutes before the break man of the match centre Emyr Gwynedd got Rhuthun’s bonus point try. Just before half time Bro were awarded a penalty in Rhuthun’s half and ran it but the move broke down and the whistle blew with the home side 26-0 ahead.
The second half commenced with Josh scoring an individual try running from his own half and dodging Bro’s defence with Dyfan converting.
The home side kept up the pressure for the rest of the half. Dyfan scored his second converted try then with 10 minutes to go substitute centre Mike Jones forced himself over the line with Dyfan converting and then Cai Edwards scored the final two tries for his hat trick.
Full time arrived with Rhuthun winning 59-0 consolidating their top 4 place in the league.
