Despite an improved batting performance, Nondies fell to a seven wicket defeat at Great Tew on Saturday. Joe Butler with 72 and Garry Adamson, 45, were mainly responsible for Nondies reaching a respectable 198-8 in 53 overs. However, classy batting from Curtly Slatter,93, and an unbeaten 53 from Josh Garrett saw Tew ease past Nondies total with overs to spare. This defeat leaves Nondies 49 points from safety with only 3 games to play.
Nondies 2nds suffered a disappointing defeat against middle of the table Sandford and slipped into the bottom two in Division 6. Lack of runs was again the problem as Nondies could only muster 148 before being bowled out in the 49th over. Only Nick Smith with a patient 23 and Sam Butler with 22 threatened to build a significant innings. Nondies bowlers did their best to make it difficult for the Sandford batsmen but an unbeaten 86 from Colin Simpson saw the home team home for the loss of 5 wickets, in the 41st over.
The third team took on top of the table Oxford Downs at Islip on Saturday and recorded a win that was as rare, as it was heavy. A combination of a rain affected wicket, a successful toss, excellent bowling and lively fielding by a new-look side, saw Downs struggle to 48 all out. Rashique (3-7) and Aamir (3-17) led the way and were well backed up by Sanjid and Tariq who took 2 wickets each.
