Nondies Hold on for Another Draw
Bletch fight back against Long Marston
Nondies held on for another draw at Long Marston but by only earning 6 points probably didn't come out with what they deserved and finished the day in 7th place in Division 2.
On a green, damp pitch Nondies stuck the opposition into bat and when they reached 230 for 8 off their 53 overs it was clear that despite the pitch, there were no demons and it was another batting paradise at Long Marston.
Nondies allowed Long Marston to get off to a flying start as they reached 50 for 1 off the first 10 overs and whilst the spin twins of Sanjay Vinjimoor and Mark Strong managed to get the run rate down a little, it was still not easy to restrict scoring. Long Marston's batsmen continued to put the bad ball away and played attacking cricket to get to their final daunting looking total.
Sanjay was the pick of the bowlers with his 3-61 off 16 overs.
Nondies batsmen started well but after Atif Ali fell quite early there was a mini collapse including Samiullah for 30, which left Mark Strong and Nick Smith at the crease.
They batted sensibly to restore some order to proceedings but were never likely to mount a serious challenge to the Long Marston score from 80 for 5.
When Strong was eventually bowled for 26. N. Smith steadied the ship again and worked with the tail to ensure a draw was the result with Nondies finishing on a more respectable 171 for 8. Nick Smith capped another fine wicket keeping display with 31 not out.
Next week's game against Cropredy is now looking like a huge game for Nondies.
