Past Players - John Shippey
John Shippey (who died in November 2008) arrived from Alton Town in August 1964 and played in 237 competitive matches (keeping a clean sheet in 56) for Oxford City between then and April 1969.
After several Trials and FA representative games he finally played his first match for the England Amateur XI in a 0-0 draw against Italy in May 1968 and went on to play 20 or so times for the national XI.
After leaving City he played for Andover, then in the Western League, for several years.
