On a wet and windy afternoon and the pitch next door swamped in water City took on Chasetown on the newly built 3G pitch which was looking in tremendous condition despite the very poor weather.
From start to finish The Hoops dominated their opponents who had inflicted a 2 0 defeat on them in the away encounter earlier in the season. The first half had City with plenty of possession but limited chances and Chasetown playing on the counter but offering little threat to the City goal. At times City could have been accused of playing backwards and sideways and not "hurting" the opposition with their passing. Despite this Joyce had his usual 3 or 4 chances and as usual missed them all. Fessey at the heart of the defence was marshalling his troops with great efficiency and Joseph in front of him was very dominant in winning the midfield battle. Salkurti was moved from right back to cantre back after his nightmare last week with Lewis filling in at right back with manager Mike Ford trying to find him a position he can play!
At the start of the half City were un changed with Barney agreeing to come out for the second half and combing very well down the left with Danny West who was still on a high from being in the newspaper this week. City opened the scoring with an edge of the box drive from McEachran which contained loads of "swaz" completely deceiving the goalkeeper. Joyce scored the second from his tenth chance after great combination play with Zac and the goal scoring was finished with Zackie rolling the ball past a stranded keeper with 10 minutes to go. Gallacher who had recovered from his illness the previous day replaced "Razvan" Palfreeman who had put in a great shift for The Team. It was left to O'Donnell to spurn Citys last chance in the dying seconds which would have capped off a tremendous display.
