city maintain their unbeaten home record.
So we finally come to the end of a long season. Tonight at Horton cum Studley Oxford city fc U15s would try to hold onto there unbeaten home record against high flying North Somerset side.
Oxford City even though hit by injuries and absences’ the depth in squad still provided a strong bench. From kick-off both teams playing good open football with a battle for possession in midfield taking place ,as the half went on Oxford began to take control, taking every opportunity to move the ball forward, with numerous opportunities to test the Somerset keeper but as has been the case this season the need to be clinical in front of goal and take those chances evaded the Oxford forwards. As half time approached after some neat work by Dan Case on the right wing who threaded a ball through for Ben Cooke to neatly finish with a one on one with the advancing keeper 1 -0 City Half time.
Second half from the kick off North Somerset with a changed formation stepped up the pace putting the Oxford under pressure in the first ten minutes however the back four of Peart , Trinder, O Reilly and Rigby stood resolute .However the second breakthrough for Oxford came from a defensive error by the Somerset defence where Kalem Paterson pounced on to a loose ball from the keeper the ball was initially cleared only to be calmly looped into an empty net by Caleb Hitchcock 2-0 Oxford Again from kick off Somerset pressed to get themselves back into the game and were soon rewarded when the Somerset forward powered into the box and under a hefty challenge was brought down for a penalty which was neatly put away 2-1 .
Oxford With 11 minutes left on the clock Oxford stepped up a gear and almost immediately went further ahead when top scorer Kalem Paterson saw his shot come of both posts and bounce clear. Oxford sealed the victory with a neat turn in the box by Ben Cook to finish in the corner of the net 3-1 Oxford Well done to both teams for a good game of football played in the right spirit and good Luck to North Somerset next season .
Finally well done to all Oxford City u15 County and Junior Premier League Cup Winners.
