History

The 'Quins were formed in 1996 following the merger of Oxford Marathons and Oxford Old Boys rugby clubs. Our mission was to improve the standard of Oxford and Oxfordshire Rugby. We are well on course to achieving our ambition and are now the premier club in the City of Oxford.

With the aid of a first class coaching staff, and talented playing staff we reached Division South West 1 in the 2003/4 season. This division boasts such teams as Clifton, Cheltenham, Bridgwater all of whom have performed at the highest level.

The club plays an attractive form of running rugby, instanced by the fact that last season we were the highest try scoring club in the league with 104 tries, the next highest being 73.

With with Oxford RFC we have formed the Oxford Rugby Partnership and are developing a rugby centre of excellence at our joint facility in the village of North Hinksey in Oxford. The Oxford Rugby Partnership field 5 men's sides, a very active Ladies section and a thriving Minis & Junior section. We also have set up an Academy with the sponsorship of the Leadbitter Group aimed at the 16 to 19 year age group. Our objective is to provide the opportunity to play rugby to all irrespective of age, sex or ability.

The stage is now firmly set for the further development of rugby within Oxford.
On Sundays there is a thriving Mini and Junior Rugby section active at our Marston Ferry Site. We are here actively linking with the Cherwell School and the North Oxford Community at large. A new lease has just been signed with the Oxfordshire Education Authority on the Marston Ferry Clubhouse, with the sole intention of developing the site for school, rugby and community use at large.

Members of the first team squad actively coach our Juniors, and pass on their experience and expertise. This is essential, as there are very few State Schools that now promote Rugby, and without the Clubs of the city the sport could well die.
