Oxford Harlequins lock Andy Boyle has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a leg infection.

“The leg got infected after he suffered a deep vein thrombosis,” explained squad manager Steve Chadbone.

“He’s been advised not to take part in any contact sport, so he’s out for the season and possibly the start of next season.

“We wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.”

Meanwhile, their Maltese international forward Charlie Sammut faces a late fitness test ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Barnsta-ple in National 3 South West.

Chadbone added: “We are just pushing forward for a good result against a strong team.

“We are pretty much on a roll at the moment and after a superb all-round display from our front five and our backs against Amersham & Chiltern (Quins won 23-14) .

“We just want to keep it going.”
