With the weather reverting to type (cool, cloudy, and breezy) heralding the fact that the cricket season is nigh, the Moonshiners must have feared being on the wrong end of a cricket score themselves when they found themselves 3-0 down after only 8 minutes had been played. To be fair, Reading are a more than decent side, and were confirmed league champions with this result, but bizarrely Oxted keeper Phil Trayner left the field at half time without having touched the ball. This in part was down to Oxted finally settling into the game, but mainly due to the immense effort put in by all the players to keep Reading at bay.

This team effort continued throughout the second half, with John Speirs possibly playing his best game of the season at centre back, but the work rate put in by the midfield trio of Bob "the sick" Cowlard, Mark Wallace, and Nigel Francis was simply outstanding. Tom King was also very solid at sweeper, having ridden to the rescue of the depleted Moonshiners squad at the last minute. A late and controversial penalty stroke from Richard Dodds concluded the scoring, but the Oxted team had earned their beers after this game.

Two league matches to go, and Oxted will be looking for that first elusive win of 2012 before the season ends.
