Tournament Chairman's Commentary

Another year, another tournament. I think this was PACE's biggest to date, certainly has been since I have been with the club since 2008, with 144 teams attending over the two days. I thought we put on a great weekend of football for the boys and girls and we have received many positive comments. Considering the number of games we had, thankfully we had only a few incidents, which were dealt with effectively.

A great deal of time and effort goes into making this event run well. I want to give a really big thank you to everyone who came to help put this on. Without you it simply wouldn't happen. A special thanks to go;

• Debs and Shelby for their organisation in the control tent, aptly dealing with last minute changes, when teams don't turn up and being the front of house.
• Steve Portwood - great programme and sorting out the BBQ and refreshments stalls all weekend (with a lot of support from Cathy, Ella and Steve's team parents)
• Si, Dan and Matt Randell - there all weekend, happy pitching in and doing a bit of everything
• Ian Roberts and Paul Perkins for being around most of the weekend, with setting up on Friday, refereeing and then taking down on the Sunday
• Donna Roch - great support leading up to the event and all her hard work on the weekend itself
• Darren Arnison - there both mornings at 7am to get the BBQs starting and still there at the end of the day
• To all the ref's - who controlled the games well with few incidents
• To all the car park helpers - no issues, which was superb given the volume of cars we had

Over the last two years PACE has built a strong reputation for delivering a great tournament. Of course with a tournament of this size there can be minor improvements and I already have a few ideas. If there is anything you would like to add, please let me know before this one is a distant memory.

At the forthcoming AGM on the 29th June, the tournament will be an agenda item and I will let you know how financially successful we were.
