Paget win the Senior Cup in a dramatic final, roared on by over 200 Bears' Supporters in a fantastic advert for the Birmingham AFA.
Paget started the brighter pressing through the midfield with forward pairing Randy Mandombo and Mark Bennett causing problems, however no clear goal scoring chances were created.
The deadlock was broken however in the 35th minute against the run of play, when Sparkhill broke forward to beat the offside trap and to slot the ball passed a despairing Paul Smith in goal.
5 minutes late Paget were left shell shocked - a long punt up field by the Sparkhill goalkeeper saw Stefan Ceisar race through to slot home. The Bears now had it all to do.
Paget's heads dropped and it now looked like Sparkhill could go on to dominate. A third goal scoring opportunity fell to Sparkhill which was superbly saved by Paget keeper Smith. This was the change of fortune the Bears needed.
Paget pushed forward and Mark Bennett took the ball down superbly and under pressure fired the ball into the back of the net on 42 minutes with great aplomb to give Paget a lifeline before halftime.
In the second half Paget raced out of the blocks. Randy Mandombo charged into the Sparkhill penalty area in the 48th minute only to have his shirt pulled back. Referee Jeff Shaw had no hesitation in awarding the spot kick to Paget. Captain Danny Zouch stepped forward and fired the equalising goal into the bottom left hand corner.
The Paget tide had turned. In the 53rd minute the ball was fed wide left to the pacey Luke Bradley who cut inside to fire across the keeper and into the far corner to put Paget 3-2 ahead.
In the 61st minute it was 4 for Paget. From a corner there was an almighty goal mouth scramble with the ball eventually prodded home from 5 yards by Randy Mandombo.
Paget continued to press and in the 71st minute a corner which Sparkhill failed to clear fell to Jimmy O'Callaghan, who showed great control to smash the ball home for his tenth goal of the season and Paget's fifth on the night.
Paget rounded off their scoring in the 75th minute with a tap in by Mark Bennett to put the Bears 6-2 up. However, the game was far from over.
In the 76th minute Paget captain Danny Zouch was sent off after a two footed challenge, this seemed to give renewed belief to Sparkhill who now poured men forward gung-ho style.
First Smith pulled off another fine save in the 78th minute but the ball fell straight to a Sparkhill forward who headed home, next on the 80th minute great pressure from the Sparkhill front line forced an own goal to make the score 6-4. Then in the 86th minute Sparkhill pulled another goal back as nerves plagued the 10 men of Paget.
Sparkhill pressed for an equaliser but it didn't materialize, Paget were the victors by six goals to five in a classic cup encounter. Paget will now look to complete the double by wrapping up the league title before the season's end. A tremendous achievement in their first season since reformation.
