Paget In Boxing Day Bonanza
Paget served up a boxing day treat at Church Road with a resounding victory over Cadbury Athletic.
Paget Rangers built on Friday night’s pleasing victory at Chelmsley Town with a totally dominate display against Cadbury Athletic on Boxing Day.
After seeing several early chances miss narrowly wide, or well saved by Stuart Parsons in the Cadbury goal, the Bears opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Ryan Conlon collected the ball in the penalty area and steered the ball into the bottom left corner to put the Bears ahead.
Six minutes before half time it was 2-0 to Paget. Daniel Carter exchanged a series of passes with Billy Fagg and the impressive Lemaar Rhule before unleashing a shot at goal which took a wicked deflection leaving Parsons wrong footed and putting the Bears two goals to the good.
Throughout the second half Paget had several chances to extend their lead, Conlon and Carter both seeing efforts saved and Fagg firing over when through on goal. Just as it seemed Cadbury may forge an unlikely comeback, Paget killed the game with their third goal. Craig Evans firing in a bullet header from a Dean Morris corner to make the score 3-0.
Two minutes from time Paget completed the scoring. Billy Fagg running at goal saw his shot deflected past Parsons to put Paget 4-0 up and to give the scoreline a more accurate feel considering the Bears dominance throughout the match.
