Four-midable Paget see off Feckenham
Four quality goals see Paget record a deserved victory over Feckenham
Midland Football League Division 2. Saturday 25th February 2017.
Paget Rangers 4 Feckenham 0
Paget Rangers comfortably beat a determined Feckenham side to record their second win of the week and maintain the pressure on the teams above them in the league table. An injury to Mark Williams meant that Jason Lanns had to make a late change and the Bears looked disjointed as the visitors started the brighter of the two teams. Cox made a couple of dangerous runs but the Paget defence dealt with his crosses.
After another tactical change, the Bears began to take charge and Danny Carter made space in the penalty area but Goddard saved his shot. Michael then blocked Cox’s shot before confusion in the Feckenham defence allowed Bellingham to intercept a clearance but Adams reached the ball before Carter. Adams then blocked Ikouara’s cross but the ball fell to Smith whose 25-yard drive hit the Feckenham crossbar. The dangerous Ikouara then set up Carter but Goddard saved again. Bellingham and Ikouara set up Taylor who shot just wide as the Bears increased the pressure on the Feckenham goal. That pressure finally told on 34 minutes when Ikouara ran through the Feckenham defence and fired home past Goddard to give Paget a deserved lead. Taylor then caused further problems for the Feckenham defence and Goddard made a brave save at the feet of Kousseba-Bakala as the Bears dominated. Eminoglu Umit then blocked a Michael cross and cleared the subsequent corner. Bellingham headed just wide and Goddard saved from the same player after good work by Taylor. However, Feckenham had the last chance of the first half when Adams fired over following a corner.
As in the first half Feckenham started well after the break and Garmson dragged his shot well wide after a through ball had split the Paget defence. The Bears eventually got into the game and Bellingham took advantage of hesitancy in the Feckenham defence to find Carter who headed just wide. Adams headed over from a Feckenham corner before Paget doubled their lead on the hour. Following a foul on Carter, Jeorge Smith curled a delightful free-kick over the Feckenham wall giving Goddard no chance to save. Feckenham responded immediately and Cox sent a corner beyond his team mates and Eminoglu Umit shot just wide. Paget went further ahead on 65 minutes after being awarded a free-kick for handball. This time Goddard failed to save Bellingham’s well placed shot. Feckenham continued to try to get back into the game and from Eminoglu Umit’s free-kick McPherson outjumped Adams to head clear. After a controversial drop-ball, Feckenham had penalty appeals turned away by the referee. As the game entered time added on Carter calmly chipped the ball over Goddard to seal an emphatic victory for the Bears although Feckenham almost had the last word as Cox shot into the side netting as Paget managed to keep the clean sheet.
