Donning their new away kit, sponsored by Bluebells bar, Paget Rangers overcame Knowle in a 2-1 win at the Robin's Nest.
Straight off the bat David Franklin caused the Knowle defence some bother, earning Paget an early corner with a shot from outside the box.
However, Knowle started to control the game, with Tom Craine almost scoring if it wasn’t for a great tackle from Dean Morris.
Matthew Coates looked dangerous going forward for the Bears, and nearly created a golden opportunity for the away side but Robert Ormston blocked the winger’s cross.
Shortly after Craig Evans headed a Morris corner to Franklin, but Perry Cox denied Franklin the opening goal.
The Wee Gers didn’t have to wait long for a goal as a long ball from Reuben Wilson was headed past Cox by Luke Hennessy putting Paget firmly in the lead after 15 minutes played. Craine nearly equalised immediately but his effort was snuffed out easily.
Only five minutes after the opener, Morris headed it back to Josh Benton showing the hosts how to succesfully head the ball back to your own goalkeeper.
Knowle responded by sending Craine through on goal, but Benton channeled his inner Manuel Neuer and nullified the attack.
Whilst both teams had good chances the scored remained 1-0 to the visitors going into the break.
Paget had two excellent chances to extend their lead after the break, Daniel Carter was through on goal but blasted his shot over the bar, and minutes later Franklin weaved through defence only for Carter’s shot to be blocked.
Despite the Bears looking threatening it was Knowle who scored next, as Christian Meadle bagged the equaliser after a well worked free kick, although the Paget camp were scratching their heads as to why the free kick was given in the first place.
It only took Paget, playing in their Rangers inspired blue away kit, to put themselves back in front as Franklin played Carter through, who routinely put the ball in the goal giving Paget the win.
Both teams had chances in the remaining 20 minutes but neither side could find the net and Paget took home all three points.
Next up Paget travel to Bloxwich on Bank Holiday Monday.
