Paisley travelled with the bare minimum of 15 men today reigniting fears for the Coaching staff just how close this team is to folding. Those who took the field and found themselves in new positions did so with courage and determination as expected of the Renfrewshire outfit.
The defensive organisation was bound to suffer with players out of position and WD scored three quick tries in the opening 15 minutes to stamp their authority on the game. Their fourth came with ten minutes to go in the first and this time it was converted. The anchor men decided to start getting their act together and with the first foray into the opposition 22 found themselves under the posts for a try.
Half time 22 - 7 to WD.
A comprehensive team talk at the break launched Paisley on the attack from the re-start with the visitors dominating the whole second half in terms of territory. Although this pressure resulted in another converted try the Paisley men simply could not capatilise on their dominance. Cruelly, with 5 minutes remaining, WD broke away against the run of play and scored a length of the field try.
Final Score WD 29 - 14 Paisley
The effort from the boys was massive, but in the end the result was a fair one. If we want to turn up to win games we need every player available. It is too hard a task with 6 or seven key players missing and unfair on the rest of the team.
MOTM award was close, but James Pringle edged it for a solid defensive performance and decisive play in attack, well done.
