Cambuslang/East Kilbride 36 - 14 Paisley
A good test before the break
Paisley were guilty of giving C/EK a wee bit too much respect in the opening stages of play and suffered as a consequence conceding two early tries which gave the home team confidence. Ten minutes camped inside the opposition green zone (22) returned zero points as the home defence stood firm.
The visitors battled hard against the wind and a flurry of attacks and the C/EK were four tries to nil at the break with the Paisley scrum creaking badly the team talk proved constructive.
The second half witnessed the anchor men retaining posession and securing their own line out and scrum balls which gave the backs the platform they needed.
Before long Gregor chased his own chip after a quick penalty and grounded under the posts. C/EK made a raft of changes and it made a difference with Paisley back under the cosh they gave away another soft try.
But the Paisley team matched their opposition in the second half and Jack hit his gaps superbly and scored a brilliant try after rounding about half the C/EK team. Five minutes later though Paisley went to sleep again and the defensive organisation failed for a sixth time as the home team got the last word on the score board.
A good test though, with a number of players missing others found themselves playing in unfamiliar positions and did well, but Callum Orr at 15 was worth his weight in gold and stopped a least four certain tries - outstanding and rightly deserving of Man of the Match.
Well done to everyone, have some time off, next session is Wednesday October 26th.
