Hopes were realistic after last weekends win as Paisley took on a potential league winning team in EK/Cambuslng, but the home team made sure their visitors came crashing back down to earth with a solid performance.

Paisley however done themselves no favours with a poor turnout and only 15 men travelled to take on a well drilled and savy team. With 28 lads on the books and only 2 with reasonable excuses for not being in attendance (Shaun working and Calum C awaiting scan results) it is no real secret where the blame lies for Paisley not only taking a hammering, but also for the first time in this teams history to register a zero scoreline.

Many of the fifteen played out of position or in positions that are new to them so a great deal of credit goes to the young men who toughed it out in a difficult back yard. Tackling was the name of the game from training and so was the defensive line. No real surprise then that the travelling Anchor Men lost their formation (due to positional changes) when EK/C were on the front foot, but there was no fear on show in the tackle zone.

Players stuck to the game plan of trying to frustrate EK/C with a tight defence and the half time score was 20-0, but the home team really turned it on in the second half with some superb passing out of the contact into running hands.

MOTM was Calum Orr at 10 who led by example all day in defence, well done.

There will be no reckoning for those who failed to show up, no bollocking, no consequences. Save for the feeling inside that they let their team-mates down. Coaching staff are disappointed, but optimistic that the character of this young and promising team will be back on show after the October break.
