An unbeaten Stewartry arrived at Anchor in confident mood, but faced a determined Paisley Under 18 team playing in front of the Senior Squad, therefore expectations were high.

The opening exchanges were physical as each team probed for the weaknesses in their opposition and it was the visitors who were quickest to find the gaps. With much of the possession and territory Paisley had to work hard to stop their try line from being breeched so it was with much disappointment that on the two occasions that it was crossed, both tries came from simple errors and a lack of concentration.

Undeterred Paisley bounced back and in the closing ten minutes of the first half and losing 14-0, turned the game around. A Stewartry scrum on their own 5 metre line under so much pressure that when the mistake came, Paiselys nine pounced on the opportunity directly under the posts, which Calum Orr converted.

Half Time Paisley 7 - 14 Stewartry

The second half was underway in no time as Paisley pressed their game plan and started at pace. After a frustrating 20 minutes with much of the possession and territory, Paisley was failing to convert with two tries being held up, much to the disappointment of the home team players. Stewartry sensed that lady luck may be in their corner and their centre ripped the ball in contact, feeding it wide quickly and against the run of play, Paisley found themselves three tries to one down.

Euan Milligan rallied his troops and inspired them to believe the game was not over and for the next 15 minutes put their visitors under relentless pressure. As good as the visiting defence was it was only a matter of time before the line was crossed twice, Jonah first which went unconverted and the next was out wide from Duncan, with Habana converting an absolute peach of a kick.

At 19 apiece and with the last play of the ball Paisley were awarded a kickable penalty inside the visitors 22, but with confusion on and off the field about the scoreline (this coach thought there was still a try in it) the play was run and a stubborn defence saw the ball dead.

Paisley back with a bang and unlucky not to take all four points as they let Stewartry off the hook.

MOTM for stopping a certain try, scoring his own and being a general pain in the neck for the opposition scrum half and their pack goes to Cammy McAuley - well done
