With both teams finding themselves short of rugby this weekend due to opposition call offs this late notice friendly was organised to keep the season ticking over. It was no surprise then that with Paisley coaches taking the opportunity to try players in new positions in a training match that a disjointed performance was always going to be on the cards. WD on the other hand were still smarting from defeat at the hands of Strathaven the week before and arrived in determined mood.

The visitors started the more lively and registered their first try under the posts within five minutes as the new flankers were still finding their feet, but Paisley struck back immediately with a try of their own worked well through the phases which evened the scores.

With the home team struggling to link together good individual performances and poor communication between all the players, WD capitalised by scoring two more before the break, one of which against the run of play and a clear misunderstanding over what open play is.

Half Time: Paisley Colts 7 – 19 Waysiders Drumpellier

Colts made changes at half time and handed Cobb his first stint at ten and Habana a go at 13 and with some players back in their original positions began to put WD under some big pressure, scoring three second half tries and controversially being adjudged a second movement on a fourth.

WD though, for the last quarter of the game showed their grit by refusing to give up and scoring two of their own and with only one player binned after repeated infringements could think themselves lucky for not being reduced by a further two.

Final Score: Paisley Colts 22 – 29 Waysiders Drumpellier

MOTM for striking fear into the hearts of opposition players every time he got his hands on the ball while playing his first ever game at wing goes to Mikey Winters, well done.
