Paisley Colts 0 - 60 Cartha
Colts take a thumping
A confident Cartha arrived at Anchor with a full compliment of players in bouyant mood and determined to extend their unbeaten run in the League. They didn't disappoint.
Carthas ability to play as a team was evident from the start with classic tactics deployed, using their big forwards to break the gain line and quick ball shipped to the backs working a treat all day. Paisley put up a decent fist of it first half and made the visitors work for their tries. Cammy McAuleys absence at 9 was evident as Jay and Callum stepped in and did their best to fill the gap, but having not played the position for some time and being a little rusty too, did not go unnoticed by the Cartha scrummy, who played a blinder
The home team in the second half offered far too much respect to their visitors and try after try was run in, but importantly the Colts spirits never dropped once. Up against a fine team they fought hard in a one sided battle, unfortunately the tactics did not pay off, Cartha played well in every position.
Changes were rung with 20 minutes to go with some tired legs on display and the subs did their best, Jordon in particular proving that the gain line wasn't that hard to break with a bit of determination and drive. Cartha though, had quality on the bench and their impact was immediate with two late tries in particular run from deep inside their own half and countless passes with fine hands.
Paisley didnt do too bad as individual players, with plenty of effort on display, but Cartha taught the home team that playing as a team is the secret to success.
Captain Jonah Newlands praised the efforts of his men and asked their focus to now be on training this Wednesday with a visit to Strathaven as the next challenge.
MOTM for positional awareness, confidence in taking clean ball from the air and running at the opposition with courage and pace goes to Jessie at Fullback, well done.
