Parkgate FC 2-2 Leek Town match report...….

FA Cup: Parkgate FC 2-2 Leek Town

Parkgate FC's Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round tie against Leek Town ended in a 2-2 draw, with a replay to come on Tuesday 18th September at Harrison Park.
Goals from Martin Brissett and Ash Burberry were cancelled out twice by Dan Trickett-Smith and Tim Grice [penalty] as Leek Town managed to force a replay.
It was a decent game with both teams going for the win from the off, however the closest anyone came in the first half was when Brissett beat the offside trap but could only fire wide for the hosts.
Leek Town had some good chances in the first half as well with Trickett-Smith being at the heart of every attack for the Staffordshire based side.

Half Time: 0-0.

The second half started in a similar vein with both teams going for the opener, however, seven minutes after the break Parkgate opened the scoring.
After a free-kick was hit long into the box by Glynn Cotton it looked like Danny Roberts had claimed it, but he could only drop it, for Brissett, who turned the ball in from five-yards. Poor keeping from the visitors.
Parkgate's lead lasted only seven minutes when Trickett-Smith's cross from the left went straight through and past Chris Butt at the far post to equalise for Leek Town.
Both teams tried to push for a goal which would have put them in the lead, however, on 65 minutes it was the hosts who regained the lead. A stunning strike from 25 yards by Burberry fired past Roberts into the top right hand corner-absolutely fantastic from the midfielder.

Parkgate held the lead a bit longer this time but with 15 minutes to go the visitors won a penalty for a foul on Marc Grocott - a harsh decision; however, Grice stepped up and sent Butt the wrong way to level a second time.
Both teams pressed for a winner with no avail and that means they have to do it all again on Tuesday.

Full Time: 2-2
