-here’s Steelmen stalwart fan Neil Gervis’s take on last Saturday’s defeat in the South Yorkshire derby at Maltby.

After a frustrating start to this local derby the Steelmen soon found themselves two goals behind 21 minutes into the game, forcing Foxy to reshuffle his pack by switching Mirfin into centre back, Neil writes.
Within four minutes, Simpson delivered a stunning free kick to bring us back into the game- but as Parkgate pressed for a leveller on a shocking pitch, Maltby regained their two- goal cushion with Smyth getting his second of the afternoon.
Half time Maltby 3-1 Parkgate
Into the second half, and Neil takes up the story. With Foxy’s half- time team- talk still ringing in their ears, the Steelmen started brightly, going down the slope.
Critchlow was proving to be a handful all afternoon and finally got his rewards on 69 mins with a well taken goal.
Third placed Main knew they were in a game but held on to pick up all three points and the local bragging rights. Patterson somehow managed to stay out of the referee’s book but I’m sure they exchanged numbers as they spoke so much, losing Foxy his bet. Onto the next game for the Steelmen who played well in the second half: they need to get points on the board -and soon. Come on u #Steelmen. Report by Neil Gervis
