Some of our so- called superstars didn't fancy the conditions or the surroundings.....

Parkgate's interest this year's FA Vase ended at the Second Qualifying Round stage with a 3-1 defeat to ten-man Glasshoughton Welfare at the TJ's Travel Arena this afternoon - and Manager Billy Fox had little argument with the outcome, writes Colin Muncie for the Parkgate FC Website.

Watched by a crowd of 82 in Castleford, Gracjan Klimczak gave Glassy a third minute lead which they held until the interval despite losing a man to a red card. Matthew Semley (58 mins) and Jack Knight (72) put the tie out of sight despite Andrew Fox's 80th minute penalty for the visitors.

Foxy told the Club website "It was an extremely disappointing day after having to change the team again. We have a couple of players over 35 who can't do two games a week -and because half of the team play on Sunday's as well we looked totally jaded today".

"A shocking start from us going a goal down after 90 seconds didn't help and then they have a player sent off" Foxy added. " We should have capitalised but our one step forward, two steps back approach meant that we couldn't pass the ball to a red shirt."

Foxy felt that many of his players didn't do themselves justice today. "Glasshoughton deserved to win with 11 and 10 men " he admitted. "Some of our so- called superstars didn't fancy the conditions or the surroundings but they are under no illusions now that's where we are- at NCEL Division One -and reminiscing of when they were at Sheffield Wednesday or Leeds United is long gone ;they were flawed then and they are flawed now".

" Good luck to Glasshoughton in the next round- and a mention for the officials -who were excellent today".
