From Foxy’s Den…
Weather permitting, Parkgate head east tonight for an awkward rendezvous with improving Barton Town. We got Manager Billy Fox’s pre-match thoughts on the trip.
As you’ll have read elsewhere, seventeenth-placed Barton Town Manager David Ricardo isn’t optimistic that tonight’s Marsh Lane clash with Parkgate in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division will go ahead-but if it does, Steelmen Manager Billy Fox’s side travel the fifty odd miles east on the M180 on the back of back-to-back wins (if anyone can remember that far back), writes Colin Muncie for the Parkgate FC Website.
Foxy -who added promising youngsters Sam Race and Dan Ppalmer, both on dual registration from parent club Frickley Athletic in the last couple of weeks-is wary of the Swans’ recent resurgence, and feels that they have recruited well. He told the Parkgate FC Website “Barton are a different animal to the one I watched lose 4-1 at Winterton earlier in the season (a Lincolnshire Senior Trophy First Round tie). They have made a few astute signings which has moved them clearly away from the relegation zone”.
Foxy is anxious to be as near full strength as he can for an important clash tonight “ I have told the players it is at home with an early kickoff” he joked (maybe) “to make sure they turn up for what will be a very difficult trip to Hull”.
