From Foxy’s Den…

In his weekly piece for the Parkgate FC Website, Manager Billy Fox updated us on his serious ankle injury, how the squad will prepare for the weekend’s game, a couple of new recruits, and his healthy respect for the man in the opposition technical area this weekend, writes Colin Muncie.

Foxy, normally the Website concerns itself about the health of your squad, but right now we are equally anxious to hear how you're doing. What's the prognosis on your ankle?

“I have a detached Achilles tendon and have an MRI booked for Friday. I’m just hoping I don't have to have the operation tomorrow as I don't want to miss the Wednesday match (away at a newly- promoted Championship side on Friday night) even though I might need some anaesthetic after. It’s going to be a long recovery but gives me more time to concentrate on Parkgate”.

Obviously this is impacting your daily routine. What input will you have into preparations for another tough game with Handsworth at Sandy Lane on Saturday?

“I will be at the game Saturday -no matter what -so it will have no impact on the game on Saturday. Richard will take training tonight, but again I will be there.
We have brought in Daniel Joynes (Nathan’s brother); from Worsborough Bridge Athletic and striker Lee Whittington (formerly with Handsworth and Staveley) this week to add competition for places in the squad”.

What are your thoughts on Jas Colliver's team and how is the squad looking for the trip to Worksop?

“Jas is one of the friendliest Managers at this level and has been a good help to me when I took the job here -letting me know which players were on the scrap heap and which I could revive. He has a very good side at Parramore with a lot of Evo-Stik experience. They do not concede a lot of goals - and Jonathan Froggatt has been even better for them this season than previous seasons.
We still won't have the same team as last week, but who knows- it might be better!”
