From Foxy’s Den……… Foxy multi-tasks in this week’s edition of his weekly column for the Parkgate FC Website. He reflects on the impact of a key incident right at the start of the Steelmen’s 3-0 League Cup Fourth Round home defeat to Rainworth Miners Welfare on Wednesday, notes a few fine debuts for the younger players , and reveals how he’ll be spending Friday night and Saturday morning-torn Achilles or not, writes Colin Muncie for the Club Website.
Foxy, from the Website’s point of view, the game was pretty much decided by the early red card and resulting goal- but also - unusually -by the players not taking their chances in the first half, when we could easily have been in front at half time, even with ten men. Is that a fair assessment?
The red card for Tim was a disastrous start and the fact that Sykes scored the free kick made it even worse. We’ve no complaints -it was a definite red card, although Tim missing games through suspension is more important. After the first ten minutes-when they hammered us -the team settled down and in the first period we should have scored four if not for some brilliant saves from Andy Francis -and some wayward finishing.

There were a number of good performances tonight, but you must have been delighted by how Sam Race and Dan Palmer acquitted themselves. They look like the type of quality young player you're keen to work with.
The young lads did particularly well for us. It is a shame that Dan Palmer picked up an injury that could rule him out for a couple of weeks.

Next up it's a trip to Pickering, still very much in the Premier Division title hunt. A tough trip-what are your thoughts on the Pikes game?
We play Pickering away Saturday and they don't get any harder than that. The cup- tied players will be back, but we will do a rain dance on Saturday morning as we will be without the suspended players- and the lads that are working this weekend.
