AFC Dronfield Under 18's 6 -- Parkgate FC Under 18's 0
It was a bad day at the office for Parkgate’s Under 18’s side on Sunday lunchtime as they went down to a 6-0 defeat to AFC Dronfield Under 18’s in a feisty encounter on the 3G pitch at Gosforth Fields, writes Colin Muncie for the Parkgate FC Website.
Down to a bare eleven players even before kick-off as a result of sickness and work commitments, Manager Lee Morris was handed another blow when two of his players arrived twenty minutes into the match, by which time the home side had taken the lead. A long-range, wind assisted second-goal was followed by a fine passing move and finish which gave AFC Dronfield a 3-0 half time advantage, but by this time Parkgate had been again reduced to nine men after a red card to Jack Jackson for violent conduct, and a back injury to the Parkgate goalkeeper, Adam Battye.
The nine men produced some fine football and created a few chances after the interval, but three late goals condemned the youngsters to a heavy defeat, leaving Lee with work to do before Thursday’s away game at Darnall.
