when Glasshoughton Welfare welcome Parkgate to Castleford......

Looks like a cracking all -NCEL FA Vase Second Qualifying Round tie at the TJ' s Travel Arena this Saturday when Glasshoughton Welfare welcome Parkgate to Castleford -and Glassy's Joint Managers were impressed by what they saw on a spying mission to the Steelmen's FA Cup First Qualifying Round draw with Leek Town on Wednesday night, writes Colin Muncie for the Parkgate FC Website and the Bootiful Game.

Lee Vigars told the Bootiful Game "I think after watching their FA Cup match against Leek Town last night, it would be fair to say Parkgate are sitting in a false position in the Division One League table. Myself and Darren (Holmes, Joint Manager ) went through to Roundwood to get a good look at Parkgate and we came away very impressed with their performance. We know that our FA Vase tie this coming Saturday will be a real test against them anyway - but sometimes you are guilty of looking at league form and slightly underestimating the task in front of you, hence the reason we went through. Having watched them push a useful Evo-Stik side all the way last night, we will certainly have our lads clued up about what to expect in terms of their work rate and quality".

Lee feels that his own side aren't too far away from hitting their stride "From our own point of view we just need to cut out some basic errors", he said. "We came out on top against Emley last week but had an anxious last ten minutes because we failed to kill the game off when we were two goals in front and completely dominating proceedings. That's our biggest flaw at the moment, allowing teams to still have a sniff when in reality they shouldn't have. Defensively we need to better and show the same kind of form and steeliness at the back we did last season but on the flip side to that we do look a real threat going forward with some quality and pace through the middle and out wide".

Turning back to the weekend, Lee is hopeful of a good crowd for the Vase tie. "It all bodes well for a cracking game between us on Saturday afternoon - and we're hopeful of another big turn out down at the TJ's Arena".
