NCEL ROUND UP …
In our weekly review for the Parkgate website, we take a look at the major stories from the FA Vase and NCEL Premier Division last Saturday, 2nd December, in association with the Bootiful Game Magazine. Parkgate’s clash at Hall Road Rangers fell victim to the weather after a pitch inspection on Saturday morning.
Pontefract Collieries advanced to the Fourth Round-and last 32-of the Buildbase FA Vase after a 3-0 home win over fellow Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Worksop Town at Beechnut Lane on Saturday and Colls assistant Manager Craig Rouse was thrilled with what he felt was an excellent afternoon’s work
Craig told the Bootiful Game “Our all lads deserve huge credit for yesterday's win. It was a good all-round team performance after a frantic start and our lads worked hard to get their rewards.
A brace from Pickering Town striker Ryan Blott helped the Pikes to a 3-1 away win at league leaders Handsworth Parramore. The Parras initially took the lead on 10 minutes through Adam Johnson, but Blott's brace turned the game on its head before a late Ged Dalton finished rounded off the scoring.
Parramore manager James Colliver commented, "I felt it was the first time all season we ain’t got what we deserved. We dominated the first half apart from a small spell that they had before half time.
Most people expected a cracking game at The Neil Hudgell Solicitors’ Stadium today when Bridlington Town collided with Hemsworth Miners Welfare in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division-and no-one could have been disappointed with the football on offer as Wells clinched a 4-2 win and fifth place in the table.
Seasiders’ boss Curtis Woodhouse was disappointed but circumspect in his assessment of the ninety minutes. He told us “We needed more courage in possession to want the ball and demand the ball” he told us “but today it just never really got going for us”.
Hemsworth Manager Wayne Benn was delighted with his side and the manner of their win. He said “I’m really pleased with the performance and the result today. To go away to Brid and win the way we have is no mean feat.”
After being denied a share of the spoils-late-on- in their last two away games at Hemsworth and Pontefract, sixth-placed Maltby Main got back on the winning trail yesterday with their 2-0 Muglet Lane victory over Albion Sports-and Maltby boss Scott Mason was understandably happy with both display and outcome.
Watched by 52 paying customers, Ross Duggan set the Miners on their way with a 27th-minute opener, and Josh Nodder sealed the points with just less than fifteen minutes left.
After the game, Scott said “I’m delighted at today's result and really pleased for the lads. The game was totally as expected- a tough game from start to finish”.
Penistone Church enjoyed 3-2 win over Garforth Town at Church View. Eleventh-placed Church were two up at the interval through Brett Lovell (15) and Kieran Ryan (35 minutes). And when Nathan Keightley extended the lead to three-nil shortly after half-time, most of the 152-strong crowd must have thought the points were safe. But the Miners hit back through Mark Simpson (71) and Jack McMurrough (84) to set up a nervy finish for the Penistone faithful.
Reflecting on the result, Ian told us “Today epitomised everything that is great about our football club. On the pitch we applied ourselves excellently to gain three points and perform at a high standard,
Liversedge climbed into twelfth place in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division with a 4-2 win over bottom side Clipstone in an entertaining match-up at the Clayborn Ground- and ‘Sedge boss Jonathan Rimmington reserved special praise for Clipstone’s goalkeeper Gary Doncaster.
Jonathan told us “The Clipstone keeper was unreal, and at half time if it had been 5-2 then no one would have moaned. It didn’t help us not playing for 10 days and we made hard work of it today- but we got the points”.
