In Andy Dawson's second game as Parkgate Manager, sees a first league win, away at Shirebrook Town.
The game in the first 20 minutes was much a battle in the midfield, with no real opportunities for either side, but Shirebrook took the lead, when winger Mark Robinson got played through on-on-one with Parkgate goalkeeper Chris Butt, which resulted in Robinson firing the ball into the bottom left corner. Parkgate slowly started to get on top of Shirebrook, and when right-back Ben Starosta beat his man and got the ball across, new signing Sam Ackroyd, on work experience from Sheffield United, headed in from 2 yards out to make it a well deserved equaliser. Shirebrooks' left-back should had seen a red card, when he elbowed Ackroyd off the ball, which the linesmen called the referee over to say it was only a yellow card.
Kicking down hill in the second half, Parkgate started to put more pressure on the Shirebrook defence with the pace of Khalifa, Bagley and Ackroyd. After some good work down the left by Zak Khalifa and Simon Harrison; striker Sam Ackroyd picked up the ball, beating his man and squaring it to Brandon Bagley, who took it round former Parkgate keeper' Levi Owen and slotting the ball home, putting the Steelmen 2-1 up.
