The relegation trap-door opened just that little bit wider for twenty-first placed Parkgate after their 1-0 home defeat to seventeenth-placed Athersley Recreation, who themselves opened up a nine-point advantage above the drop zone, in their Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash yesterday-and Steelmen Manager Billy Fox had no complaints with the result, writes Colin Muncie for the Parkgate FC Website.
James Eyles fine twenty-third minute left wing run and finish settled the game in the visitors’ favour in front of a crowd of 82 at a sunny Roundwood.
Foxy told the Club Website “It was a hugely disappointing day with very little football and it has left us with a bigger mountain to climb. Our passing today was simply not good enough after the enforced break and yet again our decision making has cost us the game”.
The fixture conveyor belt doesn’t give Foxy much time to think long and hard about yesterday’s defeat “Our forwards made Danny South look like Baresi.” he admitted “We can't dwell on it as we play Staveley on Monday who aren't as bad as their position suggests -but we are going to need snookers soon if we don't pull our socks up”.
