After tasting victory four days earlier Parkgate crashed back to earth with a reality check. Newly promoted Hemsworth MW gave them a lesson in finishing in a fast paced first half. Barely two minutes had gone when Nash Connolly burst into the penalty area to score from close range. Things got worse on eight minutes when an unmarked Del Pollock headed home to make it 2-0. Parkgate were largely chasing shadows in what was a poor first half performance.
The second half saw a vast improvement as Parkgate took the game by the scruff of the neck and forced Hemsworth to spend long periods defending in numbers. Parkgate laid siege to the visitors goal but to no avail. Despite all the pressure the score remained at 2-0 and the game was lost. Parkgate will learn from this performance and as they say, ‘’onwards and upwards’’.
