Thackley plundered a six-goal away win in front of a crowd of 72......
sadly spelling the end of Manager, Ross Shelton’s tenure @ Roundwood....
It was a painful afternoon for the Parkgate faithful yesterday afternoon in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division as visitors Thackley plundered a six-goal away win in front of a crowd of 72. The defeat was the Steelmen’s ninth in succession in all competitions.
Chris Reape’s pacy, well-organised team were a constant threat in front of goal, and early strikes from Joe Hughes (22) and Jordan Hendrie (27) put them in command. Julius Omosebi made it three on 35 minutes and the visitors deservedly led 3-0 at the break.
A couple of substitutions provided a brief spark for the home side, but hopes of a comeback were well and truly extinguished when Joe Hughes (57) punished a defensive error to make it 4-0, and Thackley, always dangerous on the counter, added further strikes from Mike Garrod just after the hour, and Alhassane Keita on 81 minutes to seal an impressive 6-0 win which sees the Dennyboys in thirteenth place in the table.
Not only did the loss send Parkgate into the bottom two in the table-it sadly spelled the end of Manager, Ross Shelton’s tenure, as in a meeting with Chairman Albert Dudill after the game, Ross resigned as the man in charge at Roundwood,
