Parkgate's gaffer gives his thoughts on recent weeks and Saturday's game at Glasshoughton Welfare.

Q: What’s your thoughts on the current squad and the recent additions yourself and the management staff have added?
The squad is really starting to take shape. Since the day myself, Lee and Ben came into the club we gave the current playing squad the opportunity to stay and impress and I believe in most cases the lads stepped up and taken the opportunity offered to them and the lads who didn’t want to remain at the club have moved on. We have added some real quality to the existing crop of players and now we are seeing a more consistent squad, although I’m still not ruling out a couple of additions, possibly one before this weekend and one for next week but watch this space.

Q: What impact have recent injuries to some key players had?
It’s part and parcel of the game. I don’t like to go on about injuries as every club has the same problem at some point during the season. It’s never nice to see the lads missing out but it also gives other members of the squad a chance to impress.

Q: What is your view on the recent results and performances the team for produced?
I knew prior to taking the job that November would be a challenging month. Playing the likes of Worsbrough, Grimsby Borough and Glasshougton back to back would be tough but there are no easy games in this league and I firmly believe there isn’t much between a lot of the sides in the league. Winning all our games in October was always going to be almost impossible to replicate in November but we go into every game with confidence we can take the points.

Q: How can your side have another upturn in results and climb further up the league table?
The chairman has allowed us to book a great outdoor training facility over the winter months which i thank him for and this enables us to work on aspects of our game that we need to get right during games and hopefully give us the edge in upcoming matches.

Q: Do you have any expectations for this Parkgate team this season?
Simply to finish as high as we possibly can.

Q: And Finally, what’s your thoughts on this Saturday’s game and the opposition, Glasshoughton Welfare?
Glasshougton currently sit in 9th, exactly the same position as when we faced them in my first game in charge. They have taken 10 points in the 7 games since and we have taken 13 from 7 games so a very similar ratio so we expect a tough test. I know from my playing days it’s always a battle away to Glasshougton. They always seem to be well organised and well drilled so we will need to be focussed this Saturday for sure.
