Showing Respect

We are about 7 weeks away from the new season and I am happy with the progress being made both on and of the pitch.

The squad is now back into pre-season training and we are on top of things administratively with the latest task for the weekend being the ordering of the new kit to ensure it arrives in time for the start of the new campaign.

It is an “open secret” that we have signed a couple of talented 16 year old players and are introducing them straight into senior football in September,.to support their development we decided to apply for a grant towards a £465 project to improve our Respect Programme.

Earlier in the week we received confirmation from the Football Foundation for 50% of the cost (£232.50) towards the project.

I must admit to obtain the grant (which is in voucher form) is quite routine for charter standard clubs to obtain and most clubs use the vouchers towards the cost of respect barriers.

To tackle the “Gobby Morons” issue we as a club already have enough poles and rope to provide spectator zones for all the pitches at Bexley Park and have club education programme (which can be downloaded this website), so the funding is going towards purchasing wall mounted and free standing “attention boards” and 2m respect banners. These will be placed at strategic points around the ground to supplement the spectator zones.

From coaching point of view I am hoping the investment will continue to create the positive environment which allows character building and self -esteem though sport to develop, Thus helping the players to grow in confidence and become better players.

It also goes without saying this investment will also support the Kent FA “Swearing Lets Kick It Out” campaign which our league's committee is asking member clubs to support.

We have agreed to four pre-season friendlies but as we are the away team we are awaiting confirmation from our opponents, as soon a we hear more we will give notice via the website.

Not much more to feedback except have a good weekend

Andy
