WESTFIELD 4 PAULTON ROVERS 0
Paulton travelled the short distance to Norton Hill School to play a Westfield side that have been playing well all season.
Paulton had to field an understrength side due to to player commitments. To be fair though,Paulton coped well with the pressure they came under. A forced substitution was made mid way through the first half as J Johnson went off with a slight hamstring strain. A re shuffle in line up had to be made but this made little difference to how Paulton coped.
It was only five minutes before half time that Paulton fell behind, a Westfield free kick was knocked goalwards and Filer went for a header but failed to fully get to the ball which resulted in him flicking the ball over everyone and into his own net. Paulton created little up front as they were lacking slightly in fire power. Half time came with Paulton happy at only being one down.
The second half began and it was noticed that Westfield had changed their formation, so Paulton changed theirs to try to counteract this. Again coping well at the back with solid defending Paulton were still in the game. However, a moments lapse the ball fell to a Westfield player who had time to look up and pick his spot and calmly despatched a very good shot into the Rovers net.As this was only ten or so minutes from the end of the game Paulton pushed an extra player forward to try and chase the game, this however backfired as Westfild exploited the gaps and scored a further 2 goals in the dying minutes.
This weekend Paulton have a changed fixture to what the web site is showing. They travel to Dilton Marsh to play in the first round of the Kevin Lucas Memorial Cup.
