Shaping the Game
Paviors will be taking part in the NLD/RFU trial called Shaping The Game.
The continuum for U7 to U9 will be replaced in September 2012 with a new format. From September 2013, the U10s will also be affected.
Who does it affect
All NLD clubs. Neighbouring counties will be informed by the NLD about the new rules. Games at NLD HOME clubs to be run under new rules. Away games to be run under either continuum or new rules.
All U7 to U9 (2012/2013) season coaches will be expected to attend a training session on the new rules early in 2012.
What are the changes
U7 –TAG, 4 a side, no coaches on pitch just a ref, no knock-on, 20mx12M pitch
U8 – TAG, 6 a side, can go to ground to score, 45m x 25m pitch
U9 – 7 a side, introduction to tackle, 60mx30m pitch
U10 – From Sept 2013 – 8 a side, some competition for the ball, mini maul, mini ruck, scrum (nearest three players), 60m x 35m pitch.
