White Lines ... Don't do it
On the back of 2 victories a raft of Holidays and Injuries meant that we were down to bare bones for the visit of Coalville. Jonno again stepped up from the 15's to allow us to have a pack.
Owen then picked up an injury in the warm up - he tried to play whilst Harry went off - but ended up spectating.
This was a good close game - with both teams getting on with the difficulties imposed by the lack of lines. Little Tom was a superstar helping us mark out the pitch with cones on the key lines - thank you.
Both packs played strong aggressive rugby - and to be fair Coalville dominated the early exchanges around the breakdown and scored on the back of some continued possession. This seemed to be a kick start for Pavs - who then spent the bulk of the first half in the opponents half with some good phased play resulting 2 penalies that we had the wisdom to kick and then Jonno going over after good work by the pack. Dom converted and at this stage was 3 for 3.
Almost from the kick off Pavs scored one of their tried of the season - a good strong catch (which we did all day) secured possession, we cleared out well with Beeby fizzing the ball to Shane who went past one player and off loaded to Skill who again made good yards (after his GOOD catch!) committed their outisde centre and then put in Jonny who ran around 2 tackles from just inside Coalville's half and finished between the posts. Great stuff.
Coalville rallied after half time and ran in two deserved tries on the back of 20 minutes of dominance of possession and territory. Pavs then managed to get some structure back and on the back of this the ball. The pack began to domintae the scrum and line out. This resulted in 2 penalties - which Dom converted one. The game ended with a 4 point gap in Pavs favour and our third W on the trot.
Credit to Jonno - try scoring step up again and then he shot off to West bridgford to play 7's with the 15's - good lad..
Credit to Harry C for playing out of position again - with the biggest bruise from last week's Bday wheel I've seen in a long time.
Credit to Nathan for playing with a strapped up ankle - week of rest on that buddy and you should be fine.
Credit to Owen - picked up the knock of Thursday, tried to play but did a grand job cheering the lads on with coach Stevo and delivered the mighty fine H2O on request..
Credit to Guy Beeby - for doing the parent run of doom on a Sunday. You know the one that goes along the lines of, being half way to a game and your son than says the imortal lines of "forgot my boots".
Isaac was outstanding all game at the breakdown and his tackling in the loose was awesome and was a deserved Man of the Match.
Beeby had a good game at 9 but win's the SH for all us parents that have had the journey bombshell dropped on you.
We have a couple of weeks training at the club now guys to get ready for the 7's at Derby. With fixtures left against Loughborough away on the 22nd and Lincoln at home on the 29th to end this season.
