Nicky Meta was the hat-trick hero as Peckham Town secured a resounding win on the road.

Peckham Town made the most of a dominant first-half display to record a 6-2 victory at second-placed Bromleians in their Kent County League Premier Division match on Saturday afternoon.

Peckham were missing six regular players, but were bolstered by the return from injury of Nicky Meta, who scored a hat trick at Scrubs Farm to earn Man of the Match honours.

Head Coach Mary Phillip explained that “with five starters not available we focused on our tactical approach, ensuring we made a high tempo start, and the players did not let us down.” Indeed, the visiting Menace would go in to the dressing room at half time with a commanding 4-0 lead.

Klajdi Cani opened the scoring before Meta’s first two goals, the second of which found the back of the Bromleians’ net directly from a corner. Peckham full back Hady Traore put additional gloss on the scoreline before half time.

Bromleians would face further difficulties after the break as Simon Wharman was sent off for a second bookable offence, but they responded by getting on the scoresheet with a left-footed Louie Clarke strike into the bottom right corner of Larry McArdle’s net.

A half-volley from substitute Frank Harrison, after Peckham failed to properly clear a corner, saw the home side halve their deficit, but Peckham would soon restore their four-goal cushion. Herve Mbongue made it five before Meta completed his hat-trick.

Manager Alan Jacobs said "We unfortunately added another player to the long injury list when Alfie Ball had to come off at half time following a late challenge.

They exploited the change to the back line, but we were always confident we could score further goals".
