Match Reports
Peebles RFC – sponsored by Glenrath Farms – played local rivals Biggar at the Gytes in BT National League 1 – unfortunately losing a tight tryless game by 15 – 9 – all the scores coming from penalty goals. Whilst this is no doubt a setback for Gavin and Drew’s squad they have to now focus and prepare for the trip to Glasgow and get their season back on track.
The seconds – sponsored by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – travelled into Edinburgh for their BT Reserve League East 1 encounter with Murrayfield Wanderers coming home victors by 74 – 5.
Peebles Colts - sponsored by BARC Coach Hire - made the long journey across the Border to Corbridge in Northumberland to meet up with their old adversaries and counterparts at Tynedale RFC. Despite having good turnouts at every training session so far, the travelling squad was decidedly light in numbers with only sixteen listed on the team sheet.
Peebles found the conditions, following a heavy downpour, to be on the tricky side in the early exchanges & despite dominating possession the visitors failed to capitalise, squandering a number of chances and by half time the score board showed that Peebles were only three tries ahead - two of which were converted.
The second half was a carbon copy of the first - domination from the Wee Pees, ferocious tackling and strong defensive work from the hosts but at the end of play Peebles had increased their lead to 0 - 46. Tries came from Buster Davidson (2), William Napier (2) and one a piece from Messrs Anderson, Britton, Scott and Lamb.
All credit has go to Tynedale , who with similar numbers to Peebles in their squad, made this a very hard match to take part in.

Hay Lodge Development
Tonight sees a major milestone reached by Peebles RFC with the official opening of the new improved playing facilities and floodlighting at Hay Lodge Park. The official ceremony will be followed at 7:30 by a BT Reserve League East 1 match between Biggar 2nds and Peebles 2nds.

Hay Lodge Lottery This is the last week of the lottery so a big thanks to all who have participated.
The final draw will take place at the Hay Lodge Grand Opening mentioned above and we hope there's a winner - the prize is insured so the only winner at the moment is the insurance company!
If it's not won, a consolation prize of £500 will be announced and will be paid to the person coming closest (or shared in the event of a tie). The only stipulation is that the winner is present to collect the prize - so another incentive to get along to Hay Lodge tonight !
Last week’s selection was – Earlston, Berwick, St Boswells, Jed Thistle, Selkirk Youth Club and Hawick PSA.
Again there was no lucky punter scooping the jackpot, closest entries was PRFC12 – with 4 correct out of the six.

Peebles Piranhas - Last Sunday saw the P3-P7 Piranhas heading down to the Riverside Park, home of JedForest RFC on a balmy September afternoon.
Strong performances across all age groups saw the P7's continue their run of form in Jed and the P5's strengthened by some more than able P4's won their group too.
This Sunday P4-P7 travel to play in the Melrose tournament - transport is by car leaving the Gytes at 8.45am.
