I thought it would be a good time to provide you with an update on what the committee have been doing over the past few weeks about securing a home for the club for the next season.

With the continued uncertainty around the future of the Pegasus Club, as far as we have been officially informed the sale has not yet been concluded, we have to base our plan on the principle that the club will close on the 31st of May and that we will not be playing at Herd Lane next season.

We are working on a number of options, including becoming a tenant of either Thurrock RFC or Thames RFC and have had a number of promising meetings with both clubs and are now waiting on final commercial proposals from both clubs.

We have also been in discussions with St Clere’s school and the owner of the former club house at St Clere’s golf course, about playing and training at the school and using the club house on a Saturday after games, in effect giving us our own ground and club house.
If the eventual new owners of the Pegasus Club decide to operate as a sports and social club then we also may have the option of continuing as we have done for the past seasons.

Once we have received all of the financial proposals we will sit down as a committee and review them before presenting them to you as the members at an EGM, which we are planning to hold before Easter.

The committee’s number one objective is that the club continues exist in its own right , we do not want to merge with anyone and that we continue to be a competitive social rugby club based on our current vales.

We hope to set a date for the EGM in the next couple of weeks, it is important that as many of you attend as possible as we shall be agreeing the future of our club, so we will try to give you at at least a month’s notice.
