Villa into Quarter Finals in PP League Cup

Pelsall Villa progressed to the quarter final stage of the Polymac Packaging League Cup last night after a win against Chelmsley Town after extra-time and penalties. Villa took the lead early in the match with a goal by Ryan Wilkins before being pegged back after a scrappy goal from a corner by the visitors. Pelsall restored their lead just before half-time after being awarded a penalty for hand ball with Luke Farley scoring from the spot.
The second half saw a brilliant free-kick from Chelmsley bringing the scores level once again and despite chances for the Pelsall to win the match in 90 minutes, the game headed into extra-time.
Villa had the best of the chances in the extra period but with the deadlock not being broken, the match went to penalties. Both teams scored their first spot kicks before Adam Jenkins saved for the home team, after a miss from the visitors with their 5th penalty, Chris Millard stepped up for Pelsall and won the tie with a coolly chipped kick straight down the middle!
Pelsall move into the quarter finals of the League Cup with their opposition still to be decided between Alvechurch, Westfields or Lye Town.
