Pelsall Villa's time in the MFL League 1 looks to have ended as they suffered a 4-0 defeat at Studley on Saturday.
Going into the game knowing they needed to win to have any hope of staying up, Villa started well despite having a weakened squad due to work commitments and injuries. A couple of half chances could have given Pelsall the foundation to kick on had they gone in but it was Studley who took the lead around the half hour mark. The hosts added a second before half-time and the match already looked gone for Pelsall.
Despite a strong start to the second half by the visitors, Studley extended their lead with two more goals mid-way through the period and the game was up for Pelsall!
Todd Sherwood and Josh Small put in strong performances for Villa but the team fell just short of survival this term.
Relegation will depend on promoted teams in League 2 having the necessary ground standard for League 1, it is expected the MFL committee will confirm next season's arrangements shortly.
